The Catastrophe of Smyrna Refugees Tour

In 1922 Greeks who lived in Asia Minor for centuries were forced to leave their houses and come to Piraeus. Their adventure was like a Ancient Greek tragedy. The tour shows how refugees of the Asia Minor Catastrophe survived in Piraeus and Athens. We visit all the important places in the port in Drapetsona, Nikaia, and in the northern suburbs of Athens. We visit industrial places, abandoned mansions, historical monuments, museums and churches. We eat at a tavern with Greek Minor Asia food. Today, the Asia Minor Refugees are acknowledged as a primal part of the Greek culture that enriched it with their vigor and virtues. Tickets to museums and lunch are not included in the price of the tour.
