KUMIODORI & JONGMYO JERYEAK by National Theatre in Bunkyo, Tokyo

The wonderful performing arts of the Imperial Court in Japan and Korea will perform together! In this performance commemorating the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and Korea, Japanese “Kumiodori” and Korean “Jongmyo Jeryeak” will be performed. KUMIODORI (1st photo) is a wonderful form of theatre that combines Okinawan dialogue, music and acting. JONGMYO JERYEAK (2nd photo) is a Korean ritual music that includes song and dance, and is performed at the Jongmyo Temple, where successive kings of the Joseon Dynasty are enshrined. There are many highlights, such as vivid costumes and various musical instruments, and the powerful performance by a large group of people is especially a must-see! Both are a co-starring performance of the performing arts of the imperial court, which are both considered UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage! We look forward to welcoming you!
