Stay at a local shukubo, a traditional Buddhist temple with 300 years of history. Experience traditional Japanese religious culture first hand while living like a Buddhist monk for a day.Head to the Noh stage to learn all about Japan’s masked performing art that predates kabuki. Try on the Noh masks and clothes and stand on the stage, an experience that is traditionally reserved for the performers. Head back for a dinner made with local ingredients featuring the area’s famous tofu.In the morning put on some traditional haiku ceremonial clothing and make a mountain pilgrimage as part of a Japanese purification ritual. Take the cable car to the top of the mountain and enjoy a meal with the gods at Afuri Shrine to complete this unique experience.
