+8 photos
This guided walking tour explores Księży Młyn, one of Europe's best-preserved 19th-century industrial districts in Łódź. Led by a licensed guide, the experience explains how this self-contained 'city within a city' was designed to support thousands of textile workers. The tour begins in the former workers' settlement, where rows of red-brick houses show how people lived in a planned industrial community. As you walk through the district, you'll learn how housing, services and workplaces were organised to support daily life. The route continues to the spinning mill, a large industrial building stretching for hundreds of metres. Its scale and architecture reflect the growth of the textile industry and the influence of the industrialist behind the development.Along the way, you'll pass key facilities such as the former fire station and factory school, which formed part of the original infrastructure. The guide explains how British factory towns influenced the layout of the area. The experience also includes a walk through Źródliska Park, an integral part of the original urban plan. As a private tour, it offers a flexible pace and time for questions while providing a clear overview of Łódź's industrial heritage.
