The hotel Posta is housed in the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, a Medieval building that has been a hotel for over five centuries. In 1200, it was the residence of the Capitano del Popolo, in 1400 the residence of Sigismondo d'Este; it became an inn called Locanda del Cappello Rosso in 1515.
