First places to travel to - after COVID

COVID-19 has had us tucked away in our homes for too long. Understandably so, but with all that time hidden away and talk of a vaccine coming any day now, it’s about time you started looking at your next retreat. But where are the best places to travel after COVID-19? Today, we’re looking at 7 – one for every continent so that no matter where you are from, there are six choices for traveling abroad and one a little closer to home.

Asia

Bali (Indonesia). It has been the choice of pilgrims, lovers, and sightseers alike for years with something to offer everyone. And post-Covid, there’s plenty of outdoor fun to be had – just in case you’re feeling a little edgy about getting back to the crowds. Surfing in Kuta, the Ulun Danu temple, diving in Padang Bai, engage in yoga retreats, or jetpack in Tanjung Benoa, there’s a lot to offer. There’s no wonder Bali is nicknamed the “Island of the Gods”.

Africa

Mgahinga Gorilla ff National Park (Uganda). With tours that have a maximum of 8 people, this stunning area is family-friendly without too much cross over. It also allows you to get a deep connection with your guide so that you can ask questions, get involved and have a tailored experience. You’ll also get a full hour once you get your first glimpse of the highest concentrations of silverbacks within a family in the world. Up until you locate them, the tour is beautiful and untamed, allowing you to experience so much more, both in terms of animals and stunning scenery. And by the way, you can interact with them up close and personal, including the young ones. That’s something virtually impossible in the rest of the world.

North America

Madison (Wisconsin). Throughout 2020 and COVID-19 it seemed as if every venture out became weird. The idea of even getting a coffee was a strange memory to most of us, but if you want to experience something truly weird, one Madison museum might just be the choice for you. Of course, there are more normal places to visit like lake Mendota or Monona, the Conrad A Elvehjem Building which is a free art gallery or the Henry Vilas Zoo, but honestly the National Mustard Museum and tasting bar is the one which will tick all of your quirky and kitsch boxes.

South America

Iguazu Falls (Argentina). With all this being locked inside without the sun it’s likely that you’re craving a little heat – and possibly some vitamin D. The tropical jungle region of Argentina is the perfect solution. Between here and Brazil there are more than 250 waterfalls, with the most beautiful of them being the Iguazu Falls. These enormous falls are so big that the spray looks like rolling clouds. Its spacious, warm and close to some wonderful places to stay and eat local. Perfect.

Antarctica

Deception Island (Antarctica). Maybe you’ve got used to the cold and want to keep it going or perhaps staying in was just too stuffy for you. Either way, Antarctica could be the choice for you. Full of natural beauty, Deception Island is a virtually untouched wonder where penguins flock. It’s definitely more penguins than people, which is quite appealing after we’ve got used to social distancing. You can fly and stay there, and once you do it’ll be pretty much you, the elements and a warm bed after an icy adventure.

Europe

Santorini (Greece). This Island is serene and stylish, cut off from the rest of the country by crystal clear waters. And Santorini is a hidden and rather mystical gem. Here, you can walk on red sands at Red Beach and black sands at Kamari Beach – otherworldly elegant. Not to forget, there’s also abandoned ruins that you can explore like Ancient Thira and Ancient Akrotiri. If a bit of urban exploring isn’t for you Santorini is famous for its high-end hotels where lounging and fine dining become an art. Forget desperately hunting for milk and toilet roll in COVID-19 climates, these places are more interested in searching out the finest ingredients and providing the very best experiences.

Australia

Alice Springs (Outback, Australia). If you want to get away, but also remain away from the masses Alice Springs is more than 1,500 kilometres from the nearest city. It is nestled in the outback which tops almost every list of things to see in Australia. It does take some getting to but what better way is there to see so much of the area? Even enjoy as you’re driven along by a charming local or rent a car and decide where you want to stop on the way. Don’t worry, it may be in the middle of nowhere but it’s by no means off grid. Internet access and delicious food is around every corner in the Red Centre of Alice Springs.

So there you have it, 7 amazing places to visit around the world after COVID-19. Tripening will be here to support you when you are ready to take on your next great adventure, and until then, stay safe.
