You could - quite rightly - argue that the Bronx Zoo is always a magical place to visit, but there’s just something about its WILD Christmas event that keeps people coming back year after year: The much-loved holiday lights.

Of course, by definition, any zoo is naturally filled with life, but the lights at the Bronx Zoo sees some awe-inspiring animation in a totally different way come nighttime. It’s definitely earned its stripes as having all the koalafications it needs to be the most epic illuminated event in New York City (groan. Sorry.).

Immersive light displays, six wildlife-themed lantern trails depicting scenes from different geographic regions and ecosystems (of which there are more than 70 new lanterns out of a total 360!) and vivid light shows are all par for the course across the 265-acre winter wonderland. All this, plus the Holiday Train, glowing animal stilt walkers, Wildlife Theater Shows, ice carving demonstrations and seasonal treats (did someone say hot chocolate, churros and s’mores? Mmmm.) - soundtracked by all your favorite classic Christmas tunes.

Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, there are also special events throughout: December 26-30 will feature professional carolers, New Year’s Eve will include a family-friendly countdown and come January 6-8, the Schiff Family Great Hall will be re-imagined as an incredible illuminated playground!

A truly enchanting experience for the whole family, this fully outdoor experience will run come rain or shine.

The event runs on selected dates through January 8th and you must purchase tickets in advance. Book a slot between 3.00pm to 8.00pm mid-week and 3.00pm to 10.00pm Friday and Saturday.

It’s the most wonderful time of the deer! (Last one. Promise.)
